Description

Venom Automotive 1JZ & 2JZ Alternator Support Bracket to reinforce the lower alternator tab on the 1JZ-GTE, 2JZ-GE, and GTE blocks. These tabs commonly break off from fatigue or overtightening during alternator installation.

This bracket will reinforce unbroken tabs as a precaution against failure or assist in supporting the alternator where the original mounting point has broken off (as pictured). Please note that we recommend tack-welding the block tab in place to support the alternator mounting face evenly.

Installation Tips

Remove the Alternator as per the Toyota Supra Repair Manual (TSRM)
Remove the existing lower block stud (if it has not already been broken off). Use vice-grips in an anti-clockwise direction.
Remove 2x bolts from the sump to enable installation of the support bracket.
Install 2x M8 Bolts to 50% thread depth.
Install the replacement M10 threaded stud to the full depth of the support bracket. We have machined an Allen key head into the end of the stud, which should be visible from the front once installed.
If the Block tab has been broken off and/or welded previously, it may be twisted out of alignment. In this case, we recommend drilling out the original hole with an 11mm drill bit to create space for the stud to pass through to the adaptor.
Tighten 2x M8 Bolts from Step 5.
Reinstall the Alternator as per TSRM.
