Description
Designed to mount a Linear Position sensor on the JZA80 without any cutting or drilling, our bespoke design comprises two anodised 6061 billet brackets and a linear potentiometer.
A linear potentiometer is a slider that moves in both directions, dividing the applied voltage across its operating range and producing an output voltage proportional to the slider's position.
With careful calibration, the voltage signal is then received by the ECU (Aftermarket required) and interpreted as gear selection. Instead of inferring the gear (from speed vs RPM), the linear sensor directly measures the physical position of the shifter. That means:
- Instant and reliable gear identification
- No errors during clutch slip or wheelspin
- Works even when stationary
This data can be fed into an ECU to:
- Assist with flat-shifting / clutch-less shifting
- Optimise rev-matching
- Cut ignition/fuel precisely during gear changes
- Data logging & performance analysis
- Incomplete gear engagement
- Wrong gear selection (e.g., 2nd → 1st mis-shift)
It is highly recommended for accurate readings that this sensor be installed in combination with our V160/1, W58 Solid Shifter Bushes for a precise engagement. Available Separately - Link
Fitment
Will suit all JZA80 / MkIV Supra’s - 1993-2002 - V160/1 or W58 Manual Transmissions
Our kit allows the position sensor to be bolted into factory mounting holes and is completely hidden once the console is reinstalled around it.
